Teen Idols-Mark Lindsay, Mickey Dolenz and Peter Noone
I got a call last week from Mark’s wife asking if my wife and I would like to be special guests at the show in Lincoln City, OR. namely Chinook Winds Casino. My wife had to work and my Mom is a big fan…so you guessed it…a road trip to the beach with my Mom. We haven’t had this one on one time in a long time!
We got to the Casino just before show time and made it to will call to pick up our tickets. One of the things I wish these new artists would take from the legends is START THE SHOW ON TIME! These guys came out at exactly 8pm and got the show going. Mark was the first to do his set of songs which included Hungry, Good Thing, Kicks, Indian Reservation and Silver Bird. During Silver Bird, Mickey and Peter came and sat in the crowd. Mickey sat right in front of me and of course I had to get a picture!
After Mark was done…by the way Peter and Mickey l were backup singers during Marks’ set. Then Mickey started busting out the Monkees’ songs. Daydream Believer and I’m a Believer and several others…for some reason I’m drawing a blank on the rest of his set…which is kind of how it was with him. He kept forgetting which song was next and couldn’t read the set list..because…as he admitted…he’s old!
Next it was Peter Noone of the Herman Hermits. My favorite was Henry the 8th…because they had the whole crowd singing..which was too much fun! They wrapped up the show with There’s A Kind Of Hush in which everyone sang. The band was really great and you wouldn’t have known they weren’t the guys playing on the original recordings!
After the show was over the guys sat at tables for a good hour signing anything you brought up for them. Real class acts and again I wish the new artists did this sort of thing. Maybe at a fair or rodeo will you have this kind of treatment. My Mom and I waited in line to get a quick picture with Mark and a signed ticket stub. I tried to get her to the Rock & Roll Cafe’ during one of the shows Mark and I did but it didn’t happen…it finally happened here and Mom was stoked! All in all a great road trip for myself and my Mom.
Here’s the rest of the pictures from the 4th row!
